National Library ~ Runanga Puka

The National Library of the Cook Islands is situated in the Northwest wing of the Ministry of Culture Building on Victoria road in the village of Tupapa Maraeenga. The library was first opened in 1993 with the aim of providing access to both a national collection and reference collection for Cook Islanders and visitors to the islands. The library is small, intimate and cool, making it a pleasurable place to visit.

Visiting the Library

The library is a ten-minute walk from the Post Office or catch the bus to the Paradise Inn and it is only a two-minute walk down Victoria Road. The library offers visitors membership for $NZ 10.00 a month. A refundable deposit of $20 or departure flight information is required as security.

The Collection

A comprehensive collection of:

Books on the Cook Islands and other Pacific Islands.
Adult and children's reference books.
Fiction for older children and teenagers and some adult fiction.
Cook Islands newspapers.

Library Services

The library offers photocopying and laminating, reference searches and Inter Library Loans plus the provision of ISBN numbers for books published in the Cook Islands

9am - 4pm Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
9am - 8pm Monday, Wednesday
