OFFICIAL OPENING and FLOAT PARADE CEREMONY

Friday 26th July 2019

9.30am: TE MAEVA NUI 2019 TORCH IS LIT FROM AT THE QUEENS REPRESENTATIVE’S RESIDENCE IN TITIKAVEKA AND COMMENCES ITS JOURNEY TO CONSTITUTION PARK, AVARUA.

FLOAT ASSEMBLE AREA:
Floats to assemble along the main road at the West end of Avatiu Harbor facing Panama.

12.30pm: ALL FLOATS TO BE ASSEMBLED AND READY FOR PRE-JUDGING.
12.30pm: PRE-JUDGING COMMENCES.
12.45pm: FLOATS proceed to Maire Nui Drive and stop opposite BTIB.
MASTER OF CEREMONY: Mr. Papatua Papatua. Kia orana, Turou Oro mai kite Te Maeva Nui
12:15pm: All invited Guests to be seated.
12.35pm: Arrival of the Chairman of the Religious Advisory Council (RAC), Bishop Donohue. Escorted to his seat by MoCD Usherettes.

12.40pm: Arrival of the Kaumaiti Nui (President of the House of Ariki), Travel Tou & Mrs Tou.

12.45pm: Arrival of the Leader of the Opposition Mrs. Tina Browne & Mr. Browne.

12.50pm: Arrival of the Minister of Cultural Development, Hon George Angene & Mrs. Angene. Met by Secretary of Cultural Development, Anthony Turua. Escorted by MoCD Usherettes.

12.55pm: Arrival of the Deputy Prime Minister, Hon Mark Brown & Mrs. Brown. Met by Secretary of Cultural Development, Mr. Anthony Turua. Escorted by MoCD Usherettes.

1.00pm: Arrival of the Queen’s Representative, H.E. Hon Tom Marsters & Mrs. Marsters. Met by Minister Hon George Angene & Secretary of Cultural Development, Mr. Anthony Turua. Escorted by MoCD Usherettes.

Note: Road Closures will commence from 11.30am onwards between Avatiu Harbor and Avarua Harbor roundabout near the Court House. The Public is asked to cooperate with our Police and the Event Organizers.

  1. Prejudging spot at the CITC supermarket/Avatiu
  2. Punanga Nui Entrance from Avatiu side
  3. VIP Area
  4. ANZ/Tourism Office Area.
