TE MIRE ATU

National Composers Competition

Te Mire Atu (National Composers Competition) is an event designed to encourage and provide a platform for Cook Island Residents to show case their song composition skills for the purpose of enhancing and growing our Cook Island’s music industry.

This particular event focuses on the use of old Cook Island Maori phrases, poetry, dialects of our Pa Enua that are slowly starting to disappear. It’s tunes and rhythms are arranged ever so carefully to give that unique Cook Island 3 chord sound.

It is a way for our people to remain engaged and excited about our Cook Islands language via a more entertaining medium. These are sounds recognized all over the world, identifying us as Cook Islanders, and what brings our culture alive within our people.
